This was a quote from Russell Brunson, Founder and CEO of Click Funnels in one of his interviews.​ You see, if you want to start your own business, you need to spend on money on ads in order to get faster results! The traditional way of marketing is on TV, newspaper, billboards, tarpaulins and signages, you name it!

 

Back in the day, if wala kang milyones to promote your business wala kang chance to compete against big brands.​ Nowadays, we can level the playing field against large corporations if you know how to advertise on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok.​

 

The thing is, how can you compete eh, halos sakto lang ang sinasahod mo sa current job mo?

 

Story time:​

 

A couple of years ago, I was so desperate to quit my job and I want to pursue my passion to starting my own business.​

 

Inaaral ko yung Facebook ads with my own money!

 

​I was earning 20K per month at that time sa corporate job ko and pinipilit kong mag save ng Php 1,500 kahit negative na yung pang gastos namin sa araw-araw para lang makapag run ng Facebook ads.​ With this amount, natutunan ko mag navigate ng ads manager at least on the beginner level since wala pa akong pambili ng courses noon.​

 

The problem is, I wanted to learn more and with that ad budget alam kong mahihirapan ako mag scale using my own money. I want to apply everything what I have learned sa Youtube pero hindi enough yung ad budget na yun to reach the next level.​

 

Guess what!

 

It took me more than 1 year bago ko ito naitindihan kung paano ang pasikot-sikot ng Ads Manager!

 

Eh paano kase, I was doing it on my own! Walang nagtuturo sa akin kaya sobrang usad pagong ang learning curve ko.

The Solution?​

 

Find a client na willing mag invest sayo at sa skills mo as a Junior Media Buyer. I tried joining various Facebook groups and call out people who are in need of Facebook ads specialist sa kanilang businesses and I offered my services for free.​

 

This time, I have a large budget to play with using my client's ad budget and I started applying all my learnings.​ That first client opened many opportunities for me because I was able to create my portfolio and showcase some of my results.

 

​I will borrow this quote from Zig Ziglar,

 

"You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want."​

 

Totoo diba?​

 

Kung gusto mong makuha yung mga bagay na gusto mo, tulungan mo munang makuha yung mga bagay na gusto nila.

 

​In this scenario, I was so desperate na mai-apply yung natutunan ko about Facebook ads and at the same time this client was also desperate finding people to run ads for them.​

 

So, natulungan ko sya mag run ng ads and in-return nai-apply ko yung lahat ng natutunan ko. Win, win, diba?​

 

This was the first step of my freelancing career as a media buyer.​ Bigla kong na realize, pwede naman pala akong kumita by just offering my services to other people and grow it as a service based business.​

 

You see, there are two types of businesses:​

 

Service Based Business, and Product Based Business
